►Decription
Potassium Fluoroborate is a white gelatiniform crystal or powder ,
nonhygroscopic and bittering. It is a hexagonal rhombus crystal when crystalized
from aqueous solution. Its relative density is 2.505, mp 530°c . It is slightly soluble
in water and hot ethanol. It decomposes at melting point, reacts with strong acids
such as sulfuric acid to produce boron trifluoride, reacts with alkaline metal
carbonates to produce fluoride and borate. It is toxic!

►Application
1 Aluminium-metallurgy: as component in fluxing and grain refining agents
for aluminium and magnesium as component in protecting salts for light metal
castings.
2 Production of abrasives:as active filler in resin-bonded abrasives for metal
treatment.
3 Production of soldering agents:as component in fluxing agents for soldering and
brazing.
► First aid measure
1. Description of first-aid measures In case of inhalation
- Move to fresh air.
- If symptoms persist, call a physician.
In case of skin contact
- Wash off with soap and water. In case of eye contact
- In case of eye contact, remove contact lens and rinse immediately with plenty of
water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes.
- If eye irritation persists, consult a specialist. In case of ingestion - Rinse mouth
with water.
- Do NOT induce vomiting.
2. Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed In case of
inhalation Effects - May cause nose, throat, and lung irritation. In case of skin
contact Effects
- Prolonged skin contact may cause skin irritation. In case of eye contact Effects
- May cause eye irritation. In case of ingestion Effects
- Ingestion may cause gastrointestinal irritation, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
3 Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed
