Avogadrite Kbf4 Powder Reliable Abrasives Material Tetra
Product Description
Synonyms : POTASSIUM BOROFLUORIDE;POTASSIUM
BOROFULUORIDE;POTASSIUM FLUOROBORATE;Avogadrite;Borate(1-),

F4;Potassium fluoborate;Potassium Tetrafluoborate;
Potassium fluoroborate is obtained by treating potassium carbonate with boric acid
and hydrofluoric acid.
B(OH)3 + 4 HF → HBF4 + 3 H2O
2 HBF4 + K2CO3 → 2 KBF4 + H2CO3
Fluoroboric acid is used in plating circuits; metal finishing; electropolishing of
aluminium and its alloy; component of galvanic baths; organic synthesis as catalyst
for alkylations and polymerisation; stabilisation of diazo salts; manufacturing of
inorganic fluoroborate salts.
Inorganic fluoroborate salts are used as components of fluxing and plating, as
catalysts, in flame-retardant manufacture, in metal treatment; grain refining agents;
as active fillers in resin bonded abrasives; in electrolytic generation of boron,
preparation of glazing frits.
Markets & Applications
Aluminium-metallurgy:
- as component in fluxing and grain refining agents
for aluminium and magnesium
- as component in protecting salts for light metal castings
Production of abrasives:
- as active filler in reinbonded abrasives for metal treatment
Production of soldering agents:
- as component in fluxing agents for soldering and brazing
According to one aspect of the invention, a braze composition is provided that
comprises an aqueous binder system, a flux composition containing multiple
inorganic compounds, and titanium hydride. The multiple inorganic compounds
include potassium tetrafluoroaluminate and/or potassium tetrafluoroborate, more
preferably both. The flux composition may contain additional inorganic compounds
that, while optional, if used can be preferably selected to have a decomposition
temperature or to form an intermediate complex having a decomposition
temperature that is above or below the decomposition temperatures of potassium
tetrafluoroaluminate and potassium tetrafluoroborate. According to a preferred
aspect of the invention, the braze composition further contains a metallic braze
alloy and is in the form of a braze paste or slurry suitable for use in manufacturing,
coating, repair, and build-up of superalloy components
Potassium tetrafluoroborate Properties:
Whitegranule crystal, slightly dissolved in water, hot alcohol and ethanol, not
dissolved in alkali solutions;deco
mposed by strong acidto be Boron trifluoride;codissolved with carbonate of alkali
metals to be fluoride and borate;melting point 530°C
Potassium fluoroborate (KBF4) is used in aluminium-metallurgy, for the production
of abrasives, soldering agents and ceramics, and in the chemical industry.
Potassium fluoroborate is used in the the following applications:
